It's Official: Fox News Is A Propaganda Organ

How ironic that the people that made it their bread and butter to rail against socialism have adopted the tactics of the Pravda, the official "information" organ of the USSR.

Here are a few notable excerpts from a Fox news insider, you might call him a whistleblower if you like, who has come clean about the Fox News operation:

  • "They’re a propaganda outfit but they call themselves news."

  • "We were a Stalin-esque mouthpiece. It was just what Bush says goes on our channel. And by that point it was just totally dangerous. Hopefully most people understand how dangerous it is for a media outfit to be a straight, unfiltered mouthpiece for an unchecked president."

  • "They were in search of these points of friction real or imagined. And most of them were imagined or fabricated. You always have to seem to be under siege. You always have to seem like your values are under attack. The brain trust just knew instinctively which stories to do, like the War on Christmas."

  • "I don’t think people understand that it’s an organization that’s built and functions by intimidation and bullying, and its goal is to prop up and support Republicans and the GOP and to knock down Democrats. People tend think that stuff that’s on TV is real, especially under the guise of news. You’d think that people would wise up, but they don’t."

And there you have it: the outfit that calls itself Fox News is actually a propaganda machine that makes stuff up as it goes. Not shocking for anyone who has an IQ over 100, but it's nice to have confirmation from an insider, and you can read it all about it on Media Matters.

But here's the clincher, mi amigo.

Half the population has an IQ of 100 or less, a consideration the Hard Right takes full advantage of.

While Bachmann, Palin, Limbaugh, etc, etc, etc... are in themselves laughable, the fact that they are able to so effectively harness the attention and energies of such a large portion of the body politic is pretty discouraging, don't you agree? To add to the confusion of it all there are people such as Doug Groothuis (Phd. in philosophy from a secular university) who fully embrace and endorse the soul wrenching rhetoric of these pathetic mouthpieces for the "Dark Side". Go Figure...?

But then again, "It's a long hard road out of Hell..." a thought worth keeping in mind I think, so eloquently expressed by the prominent poet and social philosopher of our time, none other than the esteemable Marilyn Manson.

Hey Steve, not that I am disagreeing with you, but I think it's not just so much a matter of IQ for a lot of people. It's the fact that a lot of the people, I'd say well more than half of the U.S. population have little or no interest in politics because either they don't feel represented, or because they do not use those IQ points they have in excess of the 100 mark to be critically informed. So they will just take anything repetitious at face value, without any desire to analyze its truth content.

I have many friends who I consider intelligent, in spite of some of the political viewpoints they hold, who repeat verbatim what they heard on FSN. It's quite discouraging actually. Doug of course is a special example of that fact. The thing I understand about him is if he believes what he says, in which case I would consider him a dupe, or whether he doesn't but says it anyway because it serves his largest interests, in which case he is something I dare not utter.

And I will tell my wife about the Marylin Manson quote, she is a big fan!

Peace.
