Of course, many voters believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim, not an American citizen, hates America, is nazi and a communist, and wants to kill little babies so he can eat them, so I guess the chasm between McCain's election image and his real image is not their concern.
Also, according to Bush's definition of torture, McCain was not tortured as a POW. You can't have it both ways.
