Sensible people often decry the fact that too many politicians waste a lot of time tackling non-issues, such as the birthers who claim that President Obama has not released his long-form birth certificate. But the real problem is that there are as many politicians who proudly come up with crackpot ideas, like Congressman Stearn's, that do affect the lives of Americans in dramatic and destructive ways. The fact that even a usually sensible politician like Rep. Waxman (D-CA), who has often been on the right (left) side of many issues, are quick to jump on the bandwagon of stupidity is demoralizing to say the least. How Rep. Waxman could be so wrong about such a ridiculous idea as the Stearns amendment to the Zadroga Bill is a question the congressman will have to answer to his conscience and to those who voted for him.

Those Who Elected This Other Douchebag Should Also Be Ashamed
Douchebaggery is a favorite Republican trait that some Democrats seem eager to embrace. Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) embodies Republican douchebaggery to a tee. To understand what I mean, just watch these two clips from last night's The Daily Show.
