Voter Homework, Sep. 9

Must read #1:
What's the Difference Between Palin and Muslim Fundamentalists? Lipstick.

Must read #2:
Ten Ways the McCain/Palin GOP Is Now Stealing the Ohio Vote
(This one really worries me, there has been hardly any talk about Republican voter suppression techniques and the proliferation of unreliable, unverifiable electronic voting machines in the MSM.)

Must read #3:
Palin Billed State for Nights Spent at Home (Change you can subsidize?)

Must read #4
Palin the "Fiscal Conservative", which contains this excellent observation by Ed Brayton of Dispatches:
Anyone who believes that Republicans really want smaller government is living in a fantasy world. They want more government, they just don't want to pay for it with higher taxes. And make no mistake, this is all quite intentional. It works like this: they drive up spending while cutting taxes, which drives up the debt. Then when the Democrats take office and are forced to raise taxes to pay off the debt they drove up, they scream "See, the Democrats want to raise your taxes!

Must read #5
Mirengoff on the Palin Effect at the RNC, where this Mirengoff fellow makes the following, honest observation about the Palin effect:
We conservatives have had a good time ridiculing the Obama phenomenon, especially its messianic feel -- the willingness of its adherents to pour so much hope and belief into such an empty, or at least incomplete, vessel -- and its elevation of "narrative" over substance.
It turns out that we were dying to have basically the same experience.
